Moulin de Foncabrette
Deep in the hills of the Haut Var region of Provence, near to the picturesque medival village of Flayosc and not so very far from our French house is the Moulin de Foncabrette. Owned and run by Mr and Mrs Rovera, both now in their 80s the couple harvest their own olives and then cold press them and other local olives to produce some of the finest olive oil we have ever tasted. Despite their advancing years the couple have no thoughts of retirement and can be found in the olive groves in the morning tending the trees or in the mill in the afternoon where the pressing process has changed little in the last 50 years and the many awards and certificates they have won for the oil hang from the walls.
