Box of individually wrapped Mini blocks (approximately 400g of yeast in total).
A lovely slow acting yeast that will give you fantastic results and which we now use in all our classes and in our bakery. The yeast comes with instructions for storage. Created in 1895, l’hirondelle has been used by several generations of bakers, and is the world’s most popular yeast brand. Delivery is by Royal Mail first class. Yeast is despatched in temperature controlled packaging to maintain its temperature. Yeast is available for delivery to both the UK and Eire. Sorry we are not able to deliver yeast outside the UK. Recorded / Signed for delivery is not available for yeast to avoid it being left in a post office depot.
To promote sustainability, we have switched from plastic packaging to Woolcool. Woolcool is an innovative, sustainable packaging supplier. The insulated paper pouches, in which we are now sending our yeast, are made with three materials – paper, wool, and a small amount of plastic. Their packaging performs well and keeps produce chilled for longer, keeping produce packed at 1°c, chilled below 5°c for at least 24 hours. The wool used is hygienic and reusable in a multitude of ways, making for an effective and practical packaging that keeps your yeast colder for longer.
All components of Woolcool are recyclable. The paper can be simply placed into your recycling. The plastic can be recycled at any location where plastic bags may be recycled, either in your own recycling or at a local drop-off point. The wool can be reused in a number of ways.It can be composted and will break down over time, releasing valuable nitrates back into soil. To compost, either place it in your own compost, place it in your compost recycling collection (although, it is worth double-checking wool will be accepted in your local area) or place in in the soil or underground in your garden. However, it can also be used to garden, to knit wool projects, or even as building materials. Check out the hashtag ‘#letsboxclever’ for inspiration.
“I have been using Richards ‘Dough’ and ‘Crust’ books for some time and my bread has improved enormously especially now I can use the L’hirondelle yeast as well. Also I think it is very good value for money and considering the packaging you use I don’t know how you do it!” JF, Ireland
