We are delighted to welcome back Giuseppe Dell’Anno, the hugely popular Great British Bake Off winner of 2021.
Following his extremely successful first cook book ‘Giuseppe’s Italian Bakes’ this class will focus on much loved classic Italian recipes both sweet and savoury for Easter passed down to Giuseppe by his beloved father.
We will be baking pastiera and crescia, both quintessentially Italian Easter bakes. You will also learn how to bake ‘ciambellone di Pasqua’, a simple, lemon flavoured sponge cake, usually shaped as a large doughnut and smothered in royal icing, and ‘torta pasqualina’, a quiche-type preparation made with puff pastry, and filled with a spinach, eggs and ricotta mixture.
Giuseppe’s passion for Italian baking was nurtured at the side of his professional chef and baker father. Growing up, baking and cooking were part of the daily language of his household. Having trained as a chemical engineer, he originally returned to baking when his own children were born, keen to reproduce the treats of his own childhood. He never dreamt that he would make it as a contestant on Bake Off, let alone be crowned the winner.
