Mosser Glass, a family-run company from Ohio, has been producing this hand-pressed glassware since 1971. Their designs give a stylish vintage aesthetic, featuring coloured milk glass with intricate patterns. The durable glassware is crafted to be both functional and cherished for generations, making them an attractive investment.
Milk glass, also known as opal glass, was invented by Venetian glassmakers in the 16th century. Originally made in various colours, it became especially popular for creating items like dinnerware, lamps, and vases during the fin de siècle period as the 19th century transitioned into the 20th. The gorgeous Mosser Glass is made by blending pigments with soda ash and silica sand, then melting the mixture. The molten glass is hand-poured into cast iron moulds, cooled with air, and rotated for sanding, polishing, and firing to achieve a glossy finish. This process creates unique pieces with beautiful pigmentation variations.
