We are delighted to welcome MasterChef winner Tim Anderson back to the kitchen for this Japanese cooking class based on his fabulous new book Ramen Forever: Recipes for Ramen Success. After his previous sellout classes with us Tim returns to demystify this ancient cuisine, showing how easy it is to cook authentic Japanese Ramen at home.
Ramen breaks down into five constituent elements, broth, seasoning, noodles, oil and the toppings such as sliced pork, nori or menma fermented bamboo shoots with a sweet yet earthy flavour which adds a bit of crisp to your broth. Tim will take you through each element enabling you to create your own ramen to suit your taste. You will be making various ramens with us to show the subtlety of changing one of the five elements and how this can change the whole flavour and essence of the dish.
The basics of Japanese foods can all be found on this class, fresh produce, simply prepared with key Japanese seasonings so that you can successfully recreate this Japanese essential in your own kitchen.
Tim Anderson was MasterChef champion 2011 and has since achieved his dream of opening a Japanese restaurant, the acclaimed Nanban, in Brixton. Ramen Forever is his sixth book on Japaneses cooking. He regularly appears on Jamie Oliver’s FoodTube and on BBC Radio 4’s Kitchen Cabinet.
The class will start at 10am and finish around 3pm. Includes lunch with wine.
