We are delighted to welcome Monisha Bharadwaj back through our Kitchen doors to teach this bespoke Simple Indian Cooking class.
In this fully hands on class you will learn how to use spices for depth of flavour to understand the subtleties of these magical ingredients. You will be creating curry sauces from scratch and learning how to cook perfect rice. We will create a perfectly balanced Indian meal that’s easy to recreate at home. You will learn the subtle art of layering ingredients in a curry to create balance, Monisha’s aim is that you will continue to cook delicious Indian meals at home with the knowledge and recipes taken from the day.
Typical recipes for the day will include turmeric pulao (perfectly cooked rice with gentle spices), tarka dal (red lentils with garlic and tomato), channa masala (chickpeas in a velvety curry sauce), murgh ka korma (chicken curry in a cashew nut sauce), eggs in a fragrant tomato fenugreek curry, onion bhajia (lightly spiced, crisp onion fritters) and some coriander and mint chutney.
Monisha Bharadwaj is an award winning author, chef, food historian and a food writer based in London. Many of her 17 books have won prestigious international awards including the World Gourmand Cookbook Award 2020 for ‘Indian in 7- recipes using 7 ingredients or fewer’. Monisha is a qualified chef from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management in Mumbai and has run her successful cookery school Cooking With Monisha, situated in West London, teaching her brand of simple, healthy Indian cooking, since 2005. She is often seen on TV in programmes such as Inside the Factory and Food and Drink, both for the BBC. Monisha is also invited as a guest speaker on Radio 4’s Food Programme and their show on ‘Turmeric’ won the Fortnum and Mason Award in 2018. Monisha also holds a BA in Indian History and brings the fun stories and history of Indian food to all the classes she teaches.
The day is fully hands on and starts at 10am with breakfast and will finish around 3.30 to 4pm. Includes lunch with wine.
