Ideal as a Christmas gift or table centrepiece, this project is a stunning way to get into the Christmas spirit and get your piping skills polished. You will learn how to make a delicious gingerbread cookie dough that holds it shape, the secret to perfect stained glass windows and how to decorate and build an impressive gingerbread structure.
Royal icing and piping expert Marianne Stewart will cover how to make royal icing and use different consistencies. She will show you beginner-friendly piping skills for flawless dots, scrolls and shells to adorn the gingerbread houses. You will pick your own colours and complete your own stained glass windows for a unique finish to each creation. Finally, we will show you how to light up the Winter Wonderland from the inside!
You will leave with your own 2-tier Gingerbread Village wrapped in cellophane & ribbon and all the recipes & instructions from the class. Class suitable for beginner to intermediate home bakers.
Please note: the gingerbread house fronts are pre-baked to save time, but you will be given the full recipe & instructions to re-create this step at home.
Marianne has been working as a pastry chef, cake decorator and tutor for over 10 years. She trained in Royal Icing with the undisputed master of Royal Icing himself, Eddie Spence MBE, for 4 terms at Eastleigh college. She has since used her royal icing skills to create a royal-iced gingerbread village for the Neff “Slide n Glide” oven campaign, a sugar crown for a magazine shoot with Prue Leith, as well as creating royal iced biscuits for the cake decorating book Cakemoji. She has taught hundreds of biscuit decorating classes around the UK, and is a huge royal icing enthusiast!
